Warnings and safe use

Preliminary information

This nutraceutical food supplement is not a medicine, does not require a doctor's prescription and does not replace the diagnosis or treatment of your urologist or general physician. If you live with pre-existing urological conditions or take chronic medication, kindly consult a healthcare professional before starting.

When to consult your doctor before use

Even though Adenofrin is a food supplement based on food-grade botanical extracts, certain situations require prior medical assessment:

  • Oral anticoagulants (acenocoumarol, warfarin, apixaban, rivaroxaban, dabigatran) or antiplatelet agents (aspirin, clopidogrel). The Ginkgo Biloba in the formula can strengthen their effect and raise the risk of bleeding.
  • Immunosuppressant therapy. Echinacea stimulates the immune response and can interfere with treatments designed to suppress it (transplant recipients, autoimmune conditions).
  • Hormone therapy or 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors (finasteride, dutasteride). Saw Palmetto acts on androgen metabolism — kindly inform your urologist before combining.
  • Surgical procedure scheduled in the next two weeks — please discontinue the supplement at least 14 days before the procedure because of ginkgo's effect on clotting.
  • Kidney or liver impairment. The metabolism of the actives may be altered; the schedule may need adjusting or avoiding.
  • Active urological diagnosis (prostate enlargement under follow-up, elevated PSA pending evaluation, prostatitis under treatment). The supplement does not replace or modify the prescribed treatment.

Documented interactions of the botanicals

  • Ginkgo Biloba × anticoagulants / antiplatelets: strengthened effect, increased bleeding risk. Kindly watch for gum bleeding, skin haematomas or nosebleeds.
  • Echinacea × immunosuppressants: possible reduction in the effectiveness of the immunosuppressant treatment.
  • Saw Palmetto × hormone therapy or anti-androgens: possible additive effect on androgen metabolism. Combine only under medical guidance.
  • Zinc × quinolone and tetracycline antibiotics: zinc can reduce their absorption if taken together. Keep the intakes at least 2 hours apart.

A detailed, plain-language review of who should not take the product and the situations that call for a prior consultation is on the page Adenofrin side effects and contraindications.

When to call a doctor or emergency helpline

  • Macroscopic haematuria (visible blood in urine) accompanied by fever or chills.
  • Allergic reaction with widespread urticaria, swelling of lips/tongue, breathing difficulty.
  • Severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting or rapidly developing general malaise.

In all these cases, kindly stop intake immediately and call the emergency helpline (102) or visit the nearest hospital emergency department. Keep the pack with the legible batch number to share with the treating doctor.
